How to Get the Most From Your Fixer Video Consult

Here at Fixer, we love talking about home repair. It’s possible that the only thing we love more than talking about home repair is thinking about (and building!) innovative new ways to help our customers with their specific repair challenges. And the more we think about it, the more convinced we are that it just takes too much work to get good advice when it comes to fixing things around the house.

Customers consistently say things things like, “I’m not sure how to get started on this project – what kind of pro do I need?” and “I received a quote, but can you look it over to make sure it sounds like a good plan?” and “How much will it cost to…?”

Honest, truthful answers to questions like these are hard to come by, because the specifics matter. But, with the onset of COVID-19 and the sheltering-in-place that ensued, we had a realization:

Video Chat Can Really, Really Help

Before, you had to wait until a Fixer arrived at your property before they could give advice, but that is not necessary – Fixers give great advice over Video Chat, as well. So, we built a bunch of new technology to make it easy for customers to talk to a Fixer, face-to-face and on-demand and voila:

How to get the most from your video consult

We strive to make your video consult as straightforward as possible, but there are a few steps you can take to make them most effective:

  1. Make a list of the things you would like your Fixer to take a look at. We call this a “to do list,” and you probably do, too.

  2. Set a goal for each of the to do list items. Some customers like to actually do the work while the Fixer is standing by. Others want general guidance and help knowing where to start. Others prefer to know how long it would take a professional to do the task. We can help with all of the above, and it’s always helpful to know your goals!

  3. Have your tools nearby. We don’t want you to have to run across the house for something, so it’s always handy to have some supplies nearby. The specific supplies will depend on your tasks, but it can never hurt to have a flashlight, screwdriver, and some washable cloths nearby.

  4. Ask all your questions! Fixers are here to help, and they know that all questions are good questions. Don’t hold back!

That’s it. We’ll make sure you’re well taken care of along the way. We can’t wait to see you over video chat!
