Katie W.’s Customer Story: “I was so lucky that going into homeownership, Fixer existed to help when I needed them!”

Long-time Fixer customer Katie W. is a first-time homeowner. Her 1913 home is a joy, but when she experiences issues, she tells us how Fixer has been there for her every time. Katie explains why she loves Fixer and why she recommends it to friends and family, all the projects Fixer has helped her with, and how Fixer compares to other services.

Set the scene for us. You ordered a Fixer because…

I’m a first-time homeowner, and I try to do a lot myself. But the first time I ordered a Fixer, I was about 5 months pregnant and trying to hang curtain rods and a pendant light from a ladder just wasn’t going to happen. I was so lucky that going into homeownership, Fixer existed to help when I needed them! Since I texted the first time, I’ve texted MANY more to help diagnose (then fix) a leak from my second-floor bathroom, fix a burst pipe in my basement, switch out multiple light fixtures, get a rock out of my garbage disposal, clean my dryer vents, caulk my bathtub and kitchen sink. Every time, an incredibly helpful Fixer has answered questions about the project but also about future projects – which has been SO helpful to plan what’s next and what I can handle myself and when to call in help!


Would you recommend Fixer to others? If so, why?

I would and I have! Usually, when people ask for advice on whom to call to help fix a problem, they need it fixed FAST and reasonably priced. Fixer is both of those things: easy to account for, with a crystal-clear booking process and crystal-clear pricing system. I love being able to help neighbors and friends alleviate the panic and stress that comes with trying to find someone to fix something broken in their home quickly by recommending Fixer — and I’ve never heard anything but great feedback when they book a Fixer!

What makes Fixer different in your mind?

The nice part about Fixer is that you don’t have to do the research to find people to fix individual problems – other services are just boards where you still have to do the legwork to find an electrician, a plumber, or a handyman. With Fixer, they do that (incredibly important) work for you, and quickly. Also when calling tradesmen individually, you’re often hoping they can get out to fix your problem some time “soon,” whatever that means. You know when you’re getting a Fixer and you can plan around it, instead of planning around a vague promise from a tradesman!


What other projects are on your to-do list?

Oh you never know – with spring comes a wild hair to redecorate or address things outside we’ve been neglecting. And as the owner of a home built in 1913, you never know when something might break!
